As a lifelong Moses Lake resident I can vouch for everything mentioned here. Blue Heron Park is genuinely one of the best kept secrets in Central Washington. Most people driving through on I-90 have no idea this town has a sandy beach, a free 18-hole disc golf course, and a fishing pier all in one spot.
I actually spent some time living at Solara Apartment Homes not long ago and the location made it super easy to get out to the parks and the lake regularly. Being right off I-90 with the lake that close is a pretty hard combination to beat.
I recently published a guide rating all 48 parks in Moses Lake across 8 categories if anyone wants a more detailed breakdown of what the park system actually looks like. McCosh Park ranked second overall because of the community events alone. The Farmers Market, the Fourth of July crowd, the Centennial Amphitheater concerts. That park carries a lot of Moses Lake’s community identity.
Moses Lake doesn’t get nearly enough credit for its outdoor recreation. Articles like this help. Thanks for shining a light on this place.

Death can happen so suddenly.

I know this very well because I have came so close to losing my own (numerous times through a TBI and brain bleed in spare occasions), my wife hers (through covid and being on the ventilator) , and my daughter hers (through pancreatitis necrosis causing her body to go into sepsis).

But we are here for a purpose. We have all been given another chance at life. Which is too help bring life into the people around us by serving others with love and a humble heart.

My dearest and warmest regards to all of Mr. Weidners loved ones.

We are both graduates of the University of Colorado Class of 1968, both owners of apartment buildings— a much different scale, of course; and we both enjoyed discussing politics, purpose, life, and our responsibility to leave this world a little better than when we arrived. Dean did that on a scale that far exceeded any expectation imaginable.
He was a wonderful, caring, purpose-driven individual who made our world a better place through his presence and his actions.
