Turn It Off

Saving energy can be as simple as cutting the power to some devices. Not using the TV? Turn it off! Not utilizing that room? Flip off the light. Who knew that it was that easy to go green? To take things an extra step, unplug electronics when not in use. Remember that if something is plugged in, it’s still pulling electricity whether or not it’s in use.

Use Natural Cleaning Products

While those store-bought cleaning products may be convenient and get the job done, they aren’t necessarily the best option for the planet. Consider opting for more natural cleaning products or make your own at home. Vinegar is an excellent cleaning solution and, chances are, you already have some in your kitchen.

Re-use Whatever You Can

Better awareness is teaching us that disposable products should be avoided as much as possible. Other big polluters are water bottles and straws, but you can go online and purchase reusable ones instead.

Get Outside

The advantage of going outside to play is that you're not running the AC or using lights. Summertime is the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy some fresh air. Take your pup for a walk or hop in your apartment community's pool like residents do at Latitude 31° Apartment Homes in Odessa, TX. When you're bored in the evening, turn off the TV and go for a hike. There are so many exciting things to see and do right outside your door.

Let’s take the initiative to go green this summer! By utilizing the aforementioned tips, you can do your part to keep our Earth healthy and your wallet happy. Have any other additional ideas or tips? Share them with us in the comments below.
