With winter weather in full swing, you might be noticing a change in your skin! As temperatures drop, winter can wreak havoc on your skin. Lucky for you, there are plenty of ways to fight back by taking proactive steps to maintain your healthy, happy skin.

Moisturize

It goes without saying that moisturizing should be an essential part of your daily routine. Don’t wait until your skin becomes dry and brittle before developing a plan. A daily skincare routine is an amazing and proactive way to stop dry winter skin before it becomes a problem. Remember, the cold winter air literally pulls moisture from your skin, leaving it dry and itchy, and a good moisturizer can replace what you lose. After moisturizing your hands or feet, we recommend putting on gloves or socks to help it soak in.

Stay Warm, Not Hot

During the winter, you probably want to crank up the heat and take long, scorching showers, but this can actually cause more damage. The hot water strips the skin of natural moisture that keeps it hydrated and protected. We recommend taking short, lukewarm showers instead!

Drink Plenty of Fluids

You can moisturize yourself from the inside out by drinking plenty of water. The more you can drink, the better, since water offers a wide range of health benefits, including improving your skin's quality. During the winter, warm up your water and add a teabag to stay hydrated while comforting yourself with some delicious tea.

Wear Warm, Non-Irritating Clothing

The cold weather will definitely cause you to bundle up in more layers, as you should! Simply avoid wearing itchy, aggressive fabric like wool and opt for soft, breathable materials. It’s also essential to keep your hands and feet warm with gloves and socks made of soft material like cotton or silk.
