When it comes to throwing things out, it’s hard to let go. Sometimes we hold onto things much longer than we should, simply because we don’t know how to say goodbye, or we worry that as soon as we throw them away, we will realize that we actually need them. Instead of letting things pile up in your home, it’s time to start throwing out the stuff you no longer need, and we are here to help you get started.

Random Cords

In just about any apartment home, you will find that everyone has a collection of random cords. If you are guilty of having cables but no idea what they belong to, it’s time to throw them out. Let’s face it; if they haven’t been used in over six months, you probably won’t need them in the future. Later, if you realize that you’ve made a mistake, it’s easy enough to search the internet for a replacement.

Old Tupperware

We all love our reliable Tupperware, but it might be time to throw some out if you can’t open your kitchen cupboard without lids falling out. Go through, match the pieces together, and throw away any that don’t have a counterpart. You can also say goodbye to the ones that are stained from pasta sauce and other strong substances.

Old Crafts and Hobbies

Did you invest in crafting materials during lockdown only to discover that it’s not for you? You’re not alone, and there’s no shame in throwing out the materials that you aren’t going to use. Instead of having those old hobbies weighing you down and making you feel guilty for not sticking to them, donate them to make space for new ones that are more your style.

Paper Clutter

Do you have a drawer or cupboard full of paper clutter that you haven’t been able to part with? Well, today is the day to say goodbye. Go through and sort out what you need to keep. If things have sentimental value, keep them in a separate area where they won’t get lost or misplaced. Things like old W2s, insurance papers, bills, etc., can be figured out individually. If you are unsure whether or not you will need a document in the future, you can always scan it and save it onto your computer for future reference.

Instead of keeping clutter in your apartment, take the time to finally donate or throw things out. Is there anything else you would add to our list of things to part with? Let us know in the comments below.
