Housed within the Spears School of Business, The Center will serve as a hub for world-class real estate education, offering hands-on learning, scholarship opportunities, and professional development that will shape the next generation of industry leaders.

Launched in Fall 2025, The Program is the first of its kind in the state of Oklahoma. Its curriculum focuses on teaching the necessary knowledge and skills to develop, manage, and maintain real estate properties and assets across various sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, and other business sectors.

Since its launch, 94 students have earned the Property and Real Estate Management certificate from Spears Business, and 157 students are currently enrolled in either the new bachelor's degree or the certificate program.

"We hope the major impact of The Program will be to introduce and attract many more students to major in this fabulous business of Real Estate," Weidner shared. "Of all the universities we recruit from, OSU students stand out as thinking, dedicated, hard-working people."

"This gift from Dean Weidner is transformational for both the Spears School of Business and real estate education in Oklahoma," said Dr. Jim Payne, dean of Spears Business. "Mr. Weidner's continued investment in our students demonstrates his commitment to building the next generation of real estate professionals. This gift will provide OSU students with the hands-on learning, industry connections, and support they need to succeed. We're deeply grateful to Mr. Weidner for his vision and generosity."

Weidner previously made a $1 million gift to OSU in 2018 to fund a property management specialization program, created in collaboration with the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the Department of Finance, and the Department of Economics. The contribution also created the Dean Weidner Property Management Endowed Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing careers in property management. To date, 54 students have received the scholarship, a number that continues to increase.

"All these aspects of real estate require trained, professional people. I believe this training should start at the college level, where students can be exposed to and experiment with this fabulous business. We want to develop professionals from the ground up so they may benefit from having Real Estate careers, not just a job," said Weidner.

The Center broke ground this October and is expected to be completed by Fall 2026. Weidner is nationally recognized for its philanthropic support of higher education, having donated to seven programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Tulsa supports YWCA Tulsa for Weidner Cares!

This September, Tulsa associates partnered with the YWCA Tulsa for their Weidner Cares event! Weidner Cares is our annual company-wide initiative where Weidner associates pause their regular activities for an entire workday to lend their skills to local organizations in need, symbolizing our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.

This year, our Tulsa region supported the YWCA Tulsa, an organization dedicated to empowering women, eliminating racism, and uplifting families in the community for over a century.

The staff was overcome with gratitude for our help, as they had faced funding cuts and layoffs, leaving the team short-staffed. YWCA leaders shared how much this volunteer day meant to them: “This is an overwhelming show of support and kindness … this day just made our future seem brighter.”

Our team stepped in with enthusiasm to complete numerous projects. We revitalized indoor spaces with fresh paint, new ceiling tiles, and a striking wall. At the same time, outdoor areas flourished with landscaping, picnic tables, privacy screens, and an exciting new Gaga Pit for children. Additionally, we organized and cleaned the bus barn and provided HVAC training to ensure the long-term sustainability of the facility.

At the end of the day, YWCA’s Tulsa campus looked brighter, safer, and more welcoming, not just physically, but in spirit. Staff shared how these projects inspired new ideas for programming, expansion, and even future funding opportunities, and they were excited to have a clean slate.

This Weidner Cares event was more than a set of completed projects. It was a message to the families served by YWCA Tulsa: You are not alone. We see you, we believe in you, and we’re invested in your future.

Oklahoma City welcomes Weidner Cares in partnership with YWCA OKC!

This October, our Oklahoma City team spent a day volunteering at the OKC YWCA as part of our annual Weidner Cares philanthropic event series. Weidner Cares is an annual company-wide program where teams from all our regions dedicate an entire workday to volunteering at a local organization and giving back to the communities in which we operate.

This year, over 150 of our Oklahoma City associates united to support YWCA OKC, an organization that offers lifesaving services and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

The team’s work spanned the entire property. Associates rebuilt the perimeter fence to serve as a canvas for a gorgeous new mural, transforming what was once an outdated space into a vibrant symbol of hope. Teams also refreshed the greenhouse, landscaped the playground, cleaned and re-striped the parking lot, moved furniture, and built/painted picnic tables and Adirondack chairs in YWCA colors.

Beyond the projects themselves, small moments made the whole day unforgettable. YWCA staff were truly awestruck by the turnout and even more impressed with the results. Our team playfully responded to their comments throughout the day with a confident “Just wait!”, heightening the anticipation and our determination to reveal beautiful projects.

One of the day’s highlights was when an associate used sidewalk chalk to create a hopscotch path adorned with uplifting sayings for the children living on site. Meanwhile, residents and little ones peeked through windows, delighted to see the mural coming to life.

“Today was one of my favorite days of the year. Even during one of my most stressful weeks, the payoff is well worth it,” said Josh Hayes, a Regional Maintenance Director.

This year’s Weidner Cares at YWCA OKC was a celebration of community, creativity, and compassion. Together, we created safer, brighter spaces that will serve the women, children, and families who walk through YWCA’s doors for years to come.
