On Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, our Saskatoon team spent their Weidner Cares day volunteering with EGADZ, a nonprofit dedicated to changing lives for at-risk youth in Saskatchewan. Weidner Cares is a company-wide annual program where each of Weidner’s regions spends an entire workday supporting a non-profit in their region as our way of giving back to the communities we operate in.

The EGADZ program, along with its supportive housing network, provides essential services such as emergency shelter, life skills programming, long-term housing, and outreach support.

Our associates started the morning at the Downtown Office with coffee, team assignments, and good vibes. From there, they set out into the community to make an impact. One group was eager to install drywall and a soundboard to enhance privacy and comfort in shared spaces. Meanwhile, several other teams tackled outdoor projects like planting trees, weeding, staining fences, and building a new stepping stone path. As a cherry on top, another team baked fresh cinnamon rolls to bring joy to the youth served by EGADZ!

By the end of the day, our teams had made a meaningful difference, not only by improving the physical space but by showing up in support of the youth who call them home.

A huge thanks to our Saskatoon associates for leading with purpose and making a huge difference! You’re awesome!

Fall is an exquisite season, especially in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Mother Nature is wearing her most colorful coat, and the weather is lovely for outdoor explorations and adventures. Here is our list of seven ideas to inspire you to get out and enjoy the autumn fun!
7 Unique Things to Do in Prince Albert, SK, in the Fall

  1. Marvel at the fall colors – Witness the jaw-dropping beauty of Canada’s autumn landscape with its scarlet, gold, and orange hues. Excellent places to take in the seasonal views are at Duck Mountain Highlands, Cypress Hills, or Grace Lakes. The contrast of fire-colored deciduous trees amid the evergreen foliage is breathtaking and a photo-worthy sight.
  2. Zip through the trees – Make the forest your playground by taking an eco-friendly zip line tour from heights of 20 to 70 feet above the ground with Treeosix Adventure Parks at Cypress Hill or Elk Ridge in Saskatchewan.
  3. Camp in comfort – If you love spending your time in the great outdoors but don’t like preparing your camping space, reserve a Parks Canada oTENTik unit in the R-Loop of the Beaver Glen Campground. Their expert staff will set up your campground for you! You’ll get the combination of a tent and an A-frame cabin that comes equipped with beds and furniture inside and a grill, outdoor seating, and a fireplace outside.
  4. Get out on the water – To experience the beauty of Prince Albert National Park from the water, rent a boat, or go fishing at the Waskesiu Marina Adventure Centre. It’s a peaceful and unique way to view the birds and wildlife of the Saskatchewan area.
  5. Take a hike – Walk the loop of the 3.4 kilometer Narrows Peninsula Trail to view various habitats, a lush, balsam fir forest, a beautiful ostrich fern bed, and amazing views of Waskesiu Lake from the shore.
  6. Dine on delicious food – While you’re near Waskesiu Lake, treat yourself to a delicious meal at Restaurant Pietro. The chef has created a distinctive menu combining fresh pasta with quality cuts of beef butchered in-house – yum!
  7. Attend a local pumpkin festival – During the first weekend in October, join your neighbors, friends, and family for an afternoon of fall fun at the Paintball Paradise Pumpkin and Music Festival. Activities at the event include a corn maze, pumpkins, food, photo ops, and entertainment from an improv group and several local bands.

If you're relocating to the Regina area, one of the first things you'll need to do is find a place to live. Tucked among the art galleries, museums, live music venues, and public gardens are quiet bungalows, impressive estates, and fully-furnished apartment communities. This extremely walkable city is home to nature trails, public parks, and a sparkling man-made lake. It is a popular destination for busy professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and growing families.

If you're unsure where you want to settle in Saskatchewan, renting an apartment downtown is a great way to get to know the area without the commitment of purchasing a property. Rent in Regina is relatively affordable, and you can find spacious, clean, and safe apartment communities throughout the city.

Before you begin your search for an apartment in downtown Regina Saskatchewan, consider these few things:

Get To Know The Area

Downtown Regina is a vibrant and bustling financial district with a unique blend of innovation, technology, music, art, dance, and culture. Downtown Regina provides over 25,000 jobs and is home to hundreds of retail shops, restaurants, and start-up businesses. Regina is one of the most diverse and inclusive cities in Saskatchewan. You can find a hub of over 15 different cultural organizations downtown.

On the weekends, you can walk from your apartment to the different cultural museums in the area, or meet some friends at Wascana Centre Park for an afternoon on the water. The Regina Farmers Market is another popular community event designed to bring people together and support farmers and local businesses.

Downtown Regina has gorgeous historic architecture, colorful murals, wide sidewalks, flat roads, and lush open green spaces. When the sun goes down, downtown Regina becomes a popular happy hour destination. Locals flock to the nearby breweries, outdoor cafés, and trendy brunch spots to socialize and relax. When you need a break from the busyness of downtown life, schedule a golf game at one of the many local breathtaking golf courses.

If you're looking for an apartment in a fast-paced downtown setting, check out luxury apartments such as Centre Point Plaza Apartment Homes or Madison Park Apartment Homes

Decide Wants Vs. Needs

Once you're sure downtown is the place for you, you want to make a comprehensive list of the things that you need versus the things that you want. This will help you narrow down your apartment search to find one that has everything you desire.

Your list of needs should include deal-breakers of features your apartment has to have, in order for you to live comfortably. This could include things like having an apartment on the first floor, being pet-friendly, having a certain number of bedrooms or bathrooms, or being a certain distance to public transportation or your workplace.

Your list of wants should include things that will enhance your apartment living experience but aren't requirements. This could consist of having access to an on-site fitness center or an apartment with a walk-in closet.

Once you put this list together, you'll be able to look for apartments in Regina that have everything that you need and many of the things that you want.

Ask About Amenities

Once you've established your needs and wants, it's time to start looking closely at apartments. Schedule to tour apartment communities that you're interested in to get a first-hand look at the amenities that they offer. You can get an idea of an apartment’s amenities from their website, but taking a physical tour of the property will help you understand the layout and condition of the amenities.

While you might initially look at things like fitness centers and dog parks, it's also important to look into the less-glamorous amenities that are just as important. This includes things like security, on-site maintenance, and controlled access buildings that contribute significantly to your comfort and safety. The extra amenities that are important to you will depend on your lifestyle.

Pet owners may look specifically for pet-focused amenities when searching for an apartment. Those working from home may look for a community business center, reliable Wi-Fi, and rentable meeting rooms. Be sure to ask what amenities are currently available and if there are plans to add or remove any amenities in the near future.

Do Your Research

Not all apartment communities in Regina are created equal. You will be spending a lot of time in your new apartment, and you want to make sure it is run by a reliable and professional landlord or property manager. When you find an apartment that you love, schedule a tour. This will help you understand the apartment community better and give you a good sense of the apartment staff. Are they friendly and welcoming? Do they answer your questions? Do they respond to your emails and phone calls promptly?

Read online reviews to hear what other people who have lived in the apartment community have experienced with the management staff. Take time to research the apartment communities in the area, and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.

Before you sign a contract, make sure you ask the following questions:

  • What are the lease terms?
  • When is rent due?
  • Can I pay rent online?
  • What is the pet policy?
  • Are there any rules about having guests over?
  • Who takes care of repairs?
  • Who do I contact if I need an emergency repair?
  • What security measures are in place?
  • What do I need to know about parking?
  • How often does the rent go up?
  • Are there any plans to update the building?

Asking these questions will help give you a clear understanding of your responsibilities as a renter and what you can expect from the apartment manager. The demand is high for affordable apartments in the downtown area, but it is important not to rush through the research phase.

Schedule A Tour

If you want to truly experience life in Regina, you’ll want to rent an apartment in the heart of the city. Centre Point Plaza Apartment Homes combines comfort and affordability with high-end amenities and innovation. If you're relocating to Regina, give us a call and schedule a tour today. We’d love to help you find the perfect apartment in downtown Regina.

Having fun in the sun is easy when you live in beautiful Prince Albert, located on the south side of the North Saskatchewan River in Canada. If you’re looking for some entertaining summer activities in the area, choose from the wide variety below:

Kinsmen Water Park

Open from early June to late August, this water park offers enough activities to fill an entire day, including two water slides, a river ride slide, a whirlpool, two tot slides, a tot pool, a main pool and a leisure pool with a spray umbrella and spray tree. It also features picnic/patio areas, a play apparatus and a canteen.

Downtown Art Walk

Held on the first Thursday of each month from June to early September, several art galleries, restaurants and businesses host an evening art walk in downtown Prince Albert. Participants join a walking tour to enjoy a wide spectrum of art created by local and provincial artists. Venues include the Mann Art Gallery, GP Carlson Gallery, John V. Hicks, Grace Campbell Gallery, On the Avenue, Bison Café, Prim & Proper Decor, Funky Fresh Café & Bistro, The Rusty Owl and The Tartan Table.

Prince Albert National Park

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy camping, cycling, hiking, canoeing, waterskiing and wakeboarding at Prince Albert National Park during our beautiful summer months. Waskesiu, the lakeside town that serves as the park’s center, offers an inviting beach where you can bask in the sun and swim, or you can venture deep into the park to explore backcountry lakes and enjoy wild flora and fauna including birds, deer, moose, and bison.

Kidz Fest

This event, just for kids, is usually held each year in mid-July in Prince Albert’s Kinsmen Park. It’s great family fun with many free activities for kids of all ages, including:  balloon animals, bubble stations, stilt-walkers, princesses, stage shows, and lots of fun games. You might want to bring along some money for the food stands and vendor booths, because you know the kids are going to ask.

Little Red River Park

Walk, hike, and bike through 1,200 acres of spectacular nature while visiting Prince Albert’s largest park. Little Red River Park is located just five minutes from downtown on Highway 55 towards Candle Lake and is especially beautiful in the summer months. The 5-kilometre River Trail multi-use loop takes you through all the ecosystems in the park. There’s also a playground for the kids, a picnic site and camp kitchens with BBQ pits. And don’t miss the famous Swinging Bridge, a pedestrian suspension bridge that traverses over the Spruce River.

Prince Albert Exhibition Annual Summer Fair

Held each year toward the end of July, the Prince Albert Exhibition Annual Summer Fair kicks off with a 2-hour parade that ends at the Exhibition Grounds. The event features everything you’d expect from a fair, including amusement rides, concession booths, livestock shows, races, a tractor pull and much more. There are special activities just for kids, and grandstand entertainment for everyone’s enjoyment.

Golfing

Try for that elusive hole-in-one at any of the four golf courses in the Prince Albert area:

  1. Cooke Municipal Golf Course, an 18-hole public course in Prince Albert on 22nd Street East, has a rich history dating back to 1909, and recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation.
  2. Fairview Fairways, a 9-hole public course located just two kilometres southeast of Prince Albert on Highway #3, offers picturesque views and a “variety of experiences” during play.
  3. Kachur’s Golf Club, an 18-hole members-only course located 10 minutes from Prince Albert off of SK-55, boasts long fairways, challenging water hazards, and scenic views.
  4. Marks Nine Golf & Country Club, a 9-hole private course, is a 5-minute drive from Prince Albert and is known for its well-manicured greens and ease-of-play.

Prince Albert Farmers Market

What better way to spend the morning than to visit a spectrum of creative local vendors offering their goods and services to the local community? Besides the freshest fruits and vegetables, you’ll also find home-baked goods, and snacks galore. The Prince Albert Farmers Market is open every Saturday during the summer months between 8 AM and 1 PM. Go while you’re hungry so you can enjoy all the delicious samples.

Walking Downtown Food & Historical Tour

For $20 per person, you can take a walking tour in downtown Prince Albert to learn about our city’s history. Included in the price are a sampling of snacks from local restaurants and a transferable one-day pass to all four Prince Albert museums.

Many people move to Regina for the great job opportunities, elevated quality of life, and low cost of living. Regina offers everything you need to work, play, shop, dine and enjoy life.

When seeking an apartment in Regina, consider looking just outside the city’s core to enjoy the benefit of living in a quiet neighborhood with the advantage of being near the thriving center so you’re close when it’s time to play.

Downtown Regina has been transformed in recent years with the addition of award-winning restaurants, a thriving artistic community, and an exciting nightlife.

Here are 12 fun things to do in Regina:

  1. Spend time at Victoria Park, an emerald gem nestled in a central urban locale with paved walkways, shaded benches and scheduled events. It’s a huge park spanning two city blocks where you can bask in the prairie sun in a beautiful downtown setting.

  1. With its stylish boutiques and charming shops, Scarth Street is a pedestrian mall where you can also grab a pint and a tasty meal at one of the pubs and restaurants between the Cornwall Center and Victoria Park.

  1. From its free skating rink (complete with free skates) to a wide variety of festivals throughout the year, don’t miss City Square Plaza, located within Victoria Park.

  1. Explore the past, present, and future of Regina at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, a natural history museum with exhibits featuring the animals, landscape, and people from our prairie lands. Kids will love the dinosaurs, play area and story time in the Paleo Pit.

  1. From paintings, jewelry, and blown glass to ceramics, sculpture and photography, the Assiniboia Gallery showcases contemporary and traditional works of art by established and emerging visual artists from across Canada.

  1. Cheer on the Saskatchewan Roughriders CFL team at Mosaic Stadium – join your fellow hockey enthusiasts and avid fans as they root for the green and white to win!

  1. Try your luck at slots, table games and cards at Casino Regina. You can also dine, take a tour, drink and dance, or catch a show in the 800-seat lounge.

  1. Enjoy free family entertainment all summer long at Cinema Under the Stars (in Victoria Park), where you can combine a family picnic in the park with the open-air experience of drive-in movies. Movies start at dusk, but take advantage of the pre-show entertainment starting at 8 p.m., featuring children’s music, crafts, kid-friendly activities and more.

  1. Catch mainstream plays and new works at Regina’s Globe Theatre in the 1906 Prince Edward Building for a unique theatre-in-the-round experience.

  1. Visit one of Saskatchewan’s largest family tourist attractions, the Saskatchewan Science Centre, a science museum featuring a fascinating variety of interactive exhibits and educational displays.

  1. Living in the Carlton Park Apartment Homes community places you near everything Prince Albert has to offer: job opportunities, magical shopping, good schools, fun entertainment and amazing restaurants.

We recently spoke with Lancy Sawatzky, the new Community Director of Carlton Park Apartment Homes, about what residents should look for when searching for an affordable, family-friendly apartment in Prince Albert, SK, or anywhere for that matter.

She listed the top seven questions future residents should ask themselves before they decide upon the perfect apartment:

  1. Is the location close to my everyday needs?
How long will it take to run errands and get to work? “Ideally, your apartment will be near local businesses as well as shopping, dining and entertainment options,” said Sawatzky. Also, check out the property’s proximity to schools, sports fields, picnic areas, parks, and whatever else is important in your life. “Transportation and commuting is easy here since we’re near Saskatchewan Highway 3 and public transportation stops.”
  2. Is the property clean and well-maintained?
Look around. Are the grounds clean? Is the apartment complex landscaped and well-maintained? Sawatzky also suggests looking at the surrounding property to see if it’s someplace that will provide peace for you during your non-working hours. “For example, not to brag, but our landscaping is super lush and green, which is really soothing to come home to after a long day at the office.“
  3. Do you have multiple floor-plan options?
Having a variety of choices allows you to pick the best layout for your lifestyle. “You’ll want to be able to choose from 1, 2 & 3-bedroom floor plans for singles, couples, or families,” said Sawatzky.
  4. Is management responsive?
It starts with your first phone call. Notice if the staff answers or returns your call promptly. Also, ask if they offer an online option to pay rent, communicate with staff and make maintenance requests.
  5. Will the amenities make my life easier?
    Indoors:
Each apartment will have its own unique offerings, and it’s up to you to decide what will make your life more confortable. You’ll want to choose from amenities like spacious living rooms, dining rooms, and huge storage rooms, or you may just want to make sure there’s a good dishwasher.
Outdoors: Once you step outside your front door, ask yourself what’s important to have in your surrounding community. Says Sawatzky, “Different things matter to different people. In general, I’ve found that our residents choose us because they like our 24-hour emergency maintenance services, pet-friendly atmosphere, on-site laundry facilities and our awesome playground for the kids.”
  6. Are there any discounts available?
Be sure to ask if the apartment community has any deals for residents. “For example, we offer a move-in special for $750, and that includes rent and the deposit,” explained Sawatzky. You may get lucky and also land in a place where the monthly cost of water and heat are included in the rent, which eliminates two extra bills per month. Also, ask if there are any discounted units available to save even more money.
  7. What can you do for fun in the area?
There are so many entertaining things to do in Prince Albert and they’re all just minutes away:
  • Catch a play at E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts
  • Grab a beer and cheer for the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre
  • Hike the many trails at Kinsmen Park and check out the skateboard and BMX park while you’re there
  • Get yourself free at the District 8 Escape Room
  • Shop ‘til you drop the Gateway Mall
  • Try your luck at the Northern Lights Casino

Be close to all the excitement that Prince Albert has to offer while enjoying a family-friendly community and affordable housing when you live at Carlton Park Apartment Homes.

Regina has plenty to offer sports lovers. Hockey fans can grab a brew and cheer on our beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders as they go for the elusive hat trick at the Mosaic Stadium in Regina. Go skating in the winter and boating in the summer on Wascana Lake or visit Victoria Park in the central business district for festivals and the bustling and colorful Regina Farmers Market.

Regina is art and museum heaven with interesting places, including the Royal Saskatchewan Museum of Natural History and the Norman MacKenzie Art Gallery.

Music lovers can attend live concerts at the acoustically perfect Conexus Arts Centre, including watching The Regina Symphony Orchestra.
