Holidazzle at The Mall of America[/caption] Minneapolis is a magical place any time of the year, but during the holidays, the city is aglow with lights, laughter and action. Here’s a list of some holiday and New Year’s Eve events in and around Minneapolis, MN that are sure to keep you in the holiday spirit: Discover the holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol now playing at the Guthrie Theatre. This is nepotism at its best; this one-man show is performed by actor Gerald Charles Dickens, the great-great grandson of the author, Charles Dickens. The show runs through December 30. Or, check out Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, the musical at the Ordway Center in St. Paul, through December 31. Get your wish list to Santa at the Minneapolis Zoo on Saturdays, or head over to the Mall of America for the Santa Experience, where you can get DVDs and portraits to capture the holiday memories. After your trip to the Mall of America, stop in at Loring Park for Holidazzle,  a holiday winter wonderland for shopping, dining and entertainment. Shop artisan vendors, dine on Bavarian pastries and watch the fireworks or holiday movies. Thursdays through Sundays, through November 23rd. Get your folklore on at the American Swedish Institute's Nordic Christmas  and get the inside story on elves, yule goats and trolls. The institute features displays of art pieces that help unfold unique, mythological stories that will entertain and delight the whole family. Take a tour of the Gingerbread Wonderland at the Norway House and step in to a world made of cookies. How’s that for magical? Tours are available through January 3rd. Head over to St Paul where the entire city is lit up and the Wells Fargo Winter Skate park hosts many a happy skater. The Landmark Center also features a variety of holiday events. Mall of America isn’t just for shopping during the holidays. This event hub features everything from a Holiday Music Festival to Toddler Tuesdays with Rudolph, to the Nutcracker Fantasy at the State Theatre. Check out the caroler times and enjoy listening to melodious holiday classics while you shop. Burn some holiday calories for a good cause and enter the Polar Dash on New Year's Day.  Runners can choose to participate in a 1,500 meter, 5k or 10k race along the Mississippi River, with proceeds going to the Shriners Hospital for Children. After the race, runners win a steaming hot cup of cocoa- or a free beer at participating pubs. Whether you’re in the mood for music, shopping or making good old-fashioned snow angels, Minneapolis and her surrounding cities are the ideal location for the holiday season.
