Places to Celebrate Earth Day in Seattle

 Give back to the Earth today![/caption] April 22nd is Earth Day and if you're looking to learn how to make a positive environmental impact starting with Seattle, we've got you covered. At EarthDay.org, their mission is to “diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day Network is the world’s largest recruiter to the environmental movement, working with more than 50,000 partners in nearly 195 countries to build environmental democracy. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.” Earth Day is nearing its 50th anniversary in 2020. Since its inception on April 22, 1970, the environmental movement has become a key issue in America and the world at large, “mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries and lifting environmental issues onto the world stage.” There are tons of Earth Day events in Seattle that are not only fun, you get to meet new people that have one common goal – improving the health of our planet! Here are a few events you can attend for Earth Day: Roo’s World of Discovery. On Friday, April 20th, Kiddo Local and FridaRoo’s World of Discovery are offering nature-themed storytelling with interactive art projects to follow. The event starts from 10:30am to 12:30pm and Preschoolers and toddlers welcome! The Student Conservation Association is hosting 60 projects on Earth Day at Washington Park Arboretum from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, April 21. “Volunteers will restore the Washington Park Arboretum through planting, mulching, removing invasive species, and maintaining trails throughout the arboretum.” Make sure to register in advance and learn what you need to bring. Light refreshments and an after-party are included. Zero Waste Washington will host an Earth Day Forum from 12pm to 1pm on Friday, April 20th at the UW Tower. If you're curious about how to reduce your carbon footprint, this is the event for you. Learn useful tips on how to reuse and recycle; small changes go a long way. Environmental Works Earth Day Celebration is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the community through socially responsible building designs. On April 20th, 3pm to 6pm, they will be hosting a Full Tilt Ice Cream bar for the first 75 attendees. While enjoying some ice cream, you can learn more about what they are all about and help contribute to their cause. The Tacoma Nature Center is hosting the Earth Day Migration Celebration. This free family event includes a walk, stories, migration games, and learning to build a birdhouse. Saturday, April 21, from Noon to 4pm. Magnuson Park Earth Day Run  provides a fun atmosphere where you get to enjoy mother nature and you get to support the planting of trees. Even better yet, by participating in the run/ walk you get a tree planted in your honor! Saturday, April 21, 10am. Seaward Park Earth Day Restoration will put you to work helping to re-forest a section of the park over Earth Day weekend.
