Keep Up Curb Appeal

If you work hard to keep your apartment looking beautiful on the outside and inside, there's nothing more frustrating than a neighbor who doesn't hold themselves to the same standards. One way to be a good neighbor is to keep up curb appeal. While this tip often goes without saying, it's still essential to consider how your aesthetic affects others. For example, if your balcony or patio is messy, your neighbor won't want to spend time on theirs. Or, if your doormat is old and dirty, consider how it affects your neighbors when they have to walk by it every day.

Be a Responsible Pet Owner

While we often think about our pets like our own children to deal with, it's crucial to think about their impact on your neighbors. Suppose your dog barks all day while you are gone or every time the doorbell rings. If that's the case, you aren't being a good neighbor. This also goes for taking your pets out on walks; if you don't pick up after your pet or keep them properly leashed, you are breaking your lease agreement and causing issues for your neighbors.

Abide By Community Guidelines

Community guidelines are there for a reason. Just as you don't enjoy listening to your neighbor's loud music, they don't like listening to yours. If you plan to have a get-together with friends, be sure to have it end at a reasonable time not to disturb others or ruin the quiet hours. Remember, the rules we have in place in our communities are there for you, so don't do anything that you wouldn't want your neighbors to do.

Being a good neighbor is easy and really doesn't take much effort. By following the tips above, you can ensure that you are being respectful and will thus have your neighbors respect you in turn.
