[Anchorage, AK, August 11, 2023] – Weidner Apartment Homes, a real estate investment and property management company, closed the offices for its 46 apartment communities in Alaska to volunteer 144 Alaska-based associates to clean Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage, AK, for their annual Weidner Cares event. Weidner Cares is Weidner’s company-wide community service event held in each region of the company’s portfolio.
The event began in 2013 as an employee-driven initiative to foster Weidner’s commitment to giving back to the areas that support its business. Each of its 15 regional teams partners with a local nonprofit and volunteers their time and resources for an entire workday to support the organization. To provide the best assistance, Weidner chooses to work with nonprofits large enough to handle support from hundreds of people and require the highly desired skill sets unique to individuals working in property management.
This year, the Alaska team volunteered for an eight-hour workday at Mulcahy Stadium, a 3,500-capacity baseball park in Anchorage’s Fairview neighborhood. Built in 1964, the stadium is home to two teams in the Alaska Baseball League, a high school baseball team, and where American Legion games are played. Weidner’s Alaska team made important improvements to create a safer and more enjoyable experience for the stadium by enhancing the overall atmosphere. The major projects included painting the outbuildings, cleaning, pressure washing, painting and staining railings, upgrading commenters' and media booths, installing bleacher windscreens, and revamping both dugouts.

Weidner will hold all 15 Weidner Cares events to support 15 nonprofits in 2023 and give back to the communities where the organization does business.
