Weidner’s Love Note to Our Portfolio

Weidner Apartment Homes volunteering at the Salt Lake City YWCA for it's annnual Weidner Cares philanthropy day.

After taking three years off due to the global pandemic, we finally welcomed back our company-wide charity event, Weidner Cares! Weidner Cares is an annual series of community service projects held in every region across Weidner’s portfolio. This is an employee-driven initiative and is a highly anticipated program that stems from our people’s willingness to serve.

During each event, teams volunteer their time and resources for an entire workday to support a charitable organization. The program fosters our commitment to building community outside our property lines by giving back to the areas that support our company.

This year, we partnered with 17 nonprofits, donated 12,344 hours, contributed $58,400 in supplies, and had 1,543 associates participate in Weidner Cares across our portfolio!

Each regional team chose a nonprofit that required projects related to our people’s desirable, multifamily-specific skill sets. Our teams beautified and maintained spaces for each organization, including interior and exterior painting, cleaning, electrical work, landscaping, organizing, and construction, among other tasks. We even worked on never-done-before projects, like helping an organization build a Diagon Alley replica from the Harry Potter franchise, and constructing a gazebo! Each region selected an impactful nonprofit. Let’s break down every nonprofit and the services they provide to our communities.
