The North Carolina and South Carolina teams kicked off their 2026 Weidner Cares project by spending the day at Sterling Elementary School in Pineville, North Carolina, helping prepare the campus for another successful school year.
From the moment volunteers arrived, the focus was clear: create spaces where students and teachers feel welcomed, supported, and inspired.
Throughout the day, teams worked across campus, completing projects that touched nearly every part of the school. Volunteers refreshed the teachers' lounge with new paint and updates, restored the outdoor classroom and community garden, repaired benches and planter boxes, completed landscaping improvements, cleaned outdoor gathering spaces, and enhanced playground areas used daily by students.
Not every contribution involved paint or power tools. Several volunteers spent time creating colorful, handwritten encouragement cards, leaving uplifting messages for students as they begin the new school year. These small gestures remind students that an entire community is cheering them on.
The day showcased what Weidner Cares is all about: coming together, sharing our talents, and investing in the communities where we live and work.
