More About the Winners Stacey Searl started with Weidner Apartment Homes on January 3, 2012, in the Phoenix, AZ region. Stacey began her career in property management in 1986 as a part-time leasing consultant while attending Arizona State University. She studied Broadcast Journalism at ASU but quickly realized she had a natural talent and passion for Leasing and Property Management. At the age of 23, she was managing 128 units and within 2 years she found herself managing a community of 856. In 1990 she obtained her AZ real estate license and continued to work for the local management company, Bernard/Allison. In the late 90s she was offered a unique position to manage a rental property located in the Right of Way owned by the AZ Department of Transportation. Overseeing this project from lease up to relocation to demolition for over 1000 renters and commercial tenants was a tremendous but satisfying challenge! Once this project was complete, Stacey returned to Bernard/Allison Management Services as a District Manager for an average portfolio of 7-9 communities. During her career with Bernard/Allison she assisted the firm with new programs, training, won numerous awards for revenue growth, expense control, associate development and creative collaboration. I enjoyed working with innovative clients who influenced me to take risks and push the limits with new ideas in our industry." Stacey was encouraged by a vendor to apply at Weidner. That proved to be sage advice for Stacey. Weidners Arizona region was at 6500 units when she joined in 2012. Today, Weidner owns over 12,000 units in AZ. I am so proud to be a part of this growing region and to work for a company that truly cares about the people. Every day that I work for Weidner, I fall in love with this business all over again. Stacey is the only Senior Area Director in AZ and she mentors 2 other Weidner employees. Stacey and colleague Lisa Stoss launched the very first Wake up with Weidner program, created the Gold Star leasing program and she is now developing a maintenance resource program for the AZ region. I am so proud to be recognized by my colleagues and represent Weidner as this years Property Supervisor of the Year. What an honor! Stacey has been married to her husband Jim for 27 years. They have 3 grown children and are starting to remodel their empty nest. Jessica Karl is a graduate from University of Wisconsin Stout with a Bachelor of Science, a major in Real Estate Property Management, and a minor in Business Administration. While attending UW-Stout, Jessica accepted a 10-week internship with Weidner in the Arizona Region, at Mozaic at Steele Park and Acclaim. Jessica experienced hands-on Property Management involving administration and people management. She fell in love with residential property management and hasnt thought twice about her career choice. After graduation, she continued her education and training with Weidner Apartment Homes, Manager in Training Program (MIT) in 2014. Six months later, she was placed as acting Assistant Community Director at Mozaic at Steele Park (399 units) while completing the MIT program. The MIT program allowed Jessica to be trained in all areas of RPM and establish relationships with multiple mentors. In the fall of 2015, Jessica was promoted to Community Director at Natura Villas Apartments (340 units) in Peoria, AZ. In the spring of 2016, Jessica was promoted to Skyline Lofts (332 units) a Downtown Phoenix Mid-rise Community. In the fall of 2016 Jessica was given the opportunity to add Proxy 333 (118 unit) to her portfolio. Proxy 333 is a Downtown Phoenix Mid-Rise Community, which was a new acquisition to Weidner portfolio and only 30% leased. The lease- up offered a new perspective to RPM that Jessica did not have prior experience with. In a challenging and developing sub-market, Proxy has reached 95% occupied in July of 2017; a huge achievement for the team. In addition to Jessicas accelerated journey with Weidner, she was nominated for 2016 AMA- Assistant Property Manager and again in 2017 for Community Director 125+ units, where she brought home one of the two awards for Weidner. Jessica also became a Certified MIT Mentor in 2017 and is an active NAA Ambassador, where she passes on her experiences to future RPM leaders. She is truly dedicated to continuing her growth, education, and development of skills with Weidner Apartment Homes. Jessica enjoys traveling to WI to visit her family and friends, and loves to go to dog parks with her new puppy, Oliver. She spends most of her time in AZ with her Weidner Family and adores all the people she's met. Weidner Apartment Homes is pleased to congratulate Jessica and Stacey for their exemplary service in a position that is met with a variety of daily challenges. Managing the needs of residents and finding innovative, effective ways to overcome challenges and deliver consistent, quality service is no easy feat. We recognize that our success is due to the passion, hard work, and dedication of our employees and we couldnt be more proud of their contribution. Congratulations, Jessica and Stacey for a job well done! -The Weidner Team
