The Weidner Cares Team in Colorado

  |     |   Colorado, Weidner Cares

The Weidner Cares team recently partnered with Urban Peak in Colorado Springs for their 2017 Weidner Cares event. Urban Peak is a “non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless.” Their mission is to “help these youth overcome real life challenges and become self-sufficient adults.” The Weidner team stepped up to assist with landscaping, building, painting and cleaning their facility which includes a 20-bed shelter. Inside, the team painted and cleaned the shelter rooms and hallways, installed ventilation, and hung art ledges so some of the residents’ artwork could be better showcased. They also cleaned the kitchen and put together a number of meal kits in preparation for those in need. Outside, the team spent some time revamping the outdoor recreation area where residents spend much of their time, doubling the size of the existing shade structure so residents can experience the full enjoyment of summer. Next, they installed a new basketball hoop, built new picnic tables, raised garden beds, mulched the large outdoor courtyard, re-stained all of their existing benches and painted the exterior of the facility. With an 85-person team, the Weidner Cares team were able to accomplish great things for this deserving organization.  The residents and staff at Urban Peak wanted to give thanks and sent over a framed poster with their messages of appreciation for the hard work contributed. Thank you Urban Peak, and thank you to the Weidner Cares team in Colorado for another job well done! What matters to you, matters to us! -The Weidner Team.
