If you are like us, then you love to eat and cook! Cooking can be a great way to bond with your family, relieve stress or provide a great meal for special guests. Cooking becomes more of a challenge in an apartment home due to limited space. All of those kitchen gadgets and ingredients take up counter and cupboard space that you may not want to give up!
With that in mind, we are here to help save you some space! If you tuned into our last Apartment Living 101 video, you may have seen the magnetic spice rack we showed as one of our space-saving techniques. This is a great solution to a cupboard or counter full of spices, and it makes it easier to see exactly what you have on hand before starting that next meal. Depending on how many spices you have, this project would only cost you about a dollar per spice!

Here's everything you'll need:
- Spice Tins
- Magnets
- Electrical Tape
- Super Glue
- White Marker
- Nail polish remover
- Metal Sheet (optional)
- Double stick mounting strips (optional)
First, we'll write the names of the spices on each tin. If you're using a white permanent marker, you can use nail polish remover to easily remove any mistakes if you need a do-over.
Next, we'll glue magnets to the bottom of the tin. If you're dealing with heavier spices, you may want to use 2 magnets.
Then we'll take a small strip of electrical tape, and place it on a shared side of the tin. This helps make sure the tins don't accidentally open if they're a little loose. The tins from this site tend to be just a little too loose for mounting vertically.
Once the tins are done, fill them up with the spices. If you're going to mount the spices on your refrigerator, you're done!

Here, we'll mount the metal sheet on the wall using some double-stick mounting strips. Because this is a fairly large sheet, I wanted to make sure it wouldn't fall with all the spices mounted on there.
Once you're done, mount the metal sheet up, and firmly press on each area where the tape is for about 30 seconds. And that's it!
Now you can mount your spices up, and arrange them however you feel works best! Whether that be by category, or in my case, alphabetically.
