Do you often find yourself getting distracted while working and struggling to get back on track? Or maybe you feel as though you just aren’t able to maximize your time to its fullest potential?

It can be difficult to stay focused sometimes, but it is important to do whatever you can to prevent this from becoming a daily struggle. You might benefit from some tips on how to be more productive during your day, and we have just the thing for you!

Tips and tricks to help you make the most out of your work day:

  1. Make a List

Making a list of everything you need to get done in a day is a great start. It gives you the opportunity to see exactly what you need to do, which in turn allows you to divide up your day in a way that will help you get to each task. Write your list out and place it somewhere you will see it so you keep reminding yourself of everything that you WILL accomplish today.

  2. Set a Timer

This is a great way to make sure you stay focused because you will feel the pressure of sticking to a deadline. Make sure that the timer is set to an appropriate amount of time to accomplish each task, and if you work around others, consider using an alarm that vibrates rather than chimes to avoid disrupting your coworkers.

  3. Do What You Are Dreading Most First

If you have a particular task that you are just completely dreading, do it first to get it out of the way. By accomplishing this task first, you are setting yourself up to get more of your less-dreaded tasks completed as well. Not to mention, if you have a task you’re dreading, then you might be procrastinating during other tasks to avoid actually getting to the big scary one.

  4. Keep Your Workspace Tidy

Whether you work in an office, from home, or anything in between, it is very important to work in an uncluttered environment. Keep a wastebasket under your desk to make sure that any trash you have is immediately off of your desk, and file away all of those loose papers that just sit in a pile next to your elbow. Keeping your workspace clear of trash and clutter will eliminate potential distractions while also creating a more positive work environment.

The best part of these tips is that they can be applied to your personal life as well. This way, you can improve your productivity in more than one area of your life. Try some of these tips the next time you have to clean, prepare for guests, or any kind of project you might be working on!
